When it comes to getting comfy in your Disney World hotel room, it’s safe to expect that Disney resorts have you covered with anything and everything you need! Right?
This is certainly true with 99% of necessities, including ESSENTIAL proximity to Mickey Waffles, but there are some gadgets that you’re gonna want to bring yourself! And trust us when we say that these 8 items are as vital as any Mickey-shaped snacks!
Travel Alarm Clock
You know what they say: the early bird catches the best (and most) Lightning Lane return times! Honestly, there’s no sadder feeling than sleeping past 7AM and realizing you missed the opportunity to jump-start your day of skipping the lines if you’ve opted to purchase Disney Genie+ (or if you’re going for an Individual Attraction Selection and staying at a Disney World Resort).
You’re shelling out quite a bit of money for the opportunity to bypass the wait times, so we have Genie+ to thank for people LIVING by their alarm clocks in Disney World.
Regardless of which park you’re visiting, though, (or whether you’re purchasing Genie+) an alarm clock, like this one from Target, comes in clutch. You traveled all this way to the Most Magical Place on Earth! You likely don’t want to spend your time sleeping!

Water Bottle Humidifier
As comfy and fun as Disney hotel rooms can be, one thing that’s hard to avoid is the dryness of the air! Just because Florida’s climate is infamously NOT-dry, hotel room air can be tough to adapt to! One easy fix is a Water Bottle Humidifier, which is easy to set up, easy to use, and easy to breathe with!
A mini portable travel humidifier is a miracle worker — simply plug it into a USB, connect it with whatever water source you have handy, and relax as the water gets converted into a refreshing mist! Trust us, your throat and your skin will thank you in the morning.

Wireless Hot Spot
Anyone who travels at all for work is all too familiar with the dread you get when you pop open the ol’ laptop only to find…shoddy WiFi?! Even if you’re not working remotely (which hopefully you AREN’T, because you’re at Disney!), having access to the Internet is pretty key, let’s be honest. Whether you’re trying to stream something on Disney+ or show your Insta followers what an amazing day you’re having, WiFi is a requisite travel companion!
That’s why we’d recommend bringing along a Wireless Hot Spot! These small, easy-to-pack gizmos act as a remote WiFi outlet no matter where you are! So if your hotel room happens to be in a tricky area for Internet access, you’ll be able to connect to it as a digital safety net!

Power Strip
In hotel rooms, electrical outlets are basically currency. Especially if you’re traveling to Disney with multiple family members, you KNOW these things get filled up FAST, like a game of electric musical chairs! And you do NOT want to be the one left chair-less!
Fortunately, there’s a super easy solution for that crisis: a Power Strip! By bringing along a block of extra electrical sockets, you’ll be able to multiply your options and ensure no one’s devices are left to fizzle!

Night Light or Mini Reading Light
When exploring Disney all day, everyone operates at different energy levels. Some are immediately ready to go to sleep upon return to the hotel room, while others need a little downtime to unwind with a TV show or a good book!
Certain Disney hotels actually have reading lights right next to the beds, but if you’re staying at a moderate resort like Caribbean Beach Resort, you’ll need to bring your own light source! And rather than fiddle with the flashlight on your phone, a Mini Reading Light makes it easy to flip a few pages without disturbing anyone else in the room!

Travel Scissors
We’ve ALL been there — we’re loaded up on newly purchased Disney merch, and we’re just SO excited to wear it/play with it/use it, etc., but inevitably, these things come with tags, and we simply can’t risk accidentally tearing our swag by forcefully yanking them off by hand!
That’s where Travel Scissors come in handy! A small pair of snippers is the PERFECT tool for safely and easily removing tags, opening food packages, cutting zip ties on toys, and so much more!

Travel Screwdriver
Another key trinket from the travel toolkit? The handy-dandy Travel Screwdriver, of course! A similar issue with the scissors, some Disney merch is exceedingly difficult to open with your bare hands, unless you’re The Hulk.
In fact, some things (we’re looking at YOU, toy monorail) are literally screwed right into the packaging! And truly, you do NOT want to stand in the way of an excited child trying to play with their new toy monorail!

Command Strip Hooks
When it comes to getting comfy and settling into your Disney hotel, organization is KEY! This is your magical home away from home, after all, and you don’t want to clutter it up and run out of storage space! Especially vital for smaller hotel rooms and on cruises, where figuring out where to store things becomes a giant game of travel Tetris, Command Hooks are GAME-CHANGERS.
Bringing along a few extra hooks allows you to keep things off the floor, reserve drawers for other items, and maximize the closets before resorting to piling clothes on the couch. A comfy hotel room is a happy hotel room!

I’ll second the wireless hot-spot idea. But I was thinking we could put our iPad near the door or where-ever we find a good signal, and use that as a tether.
Ed Shelnutt says
All items recommended I would agree are useful, with the exception of the command hooks. They require an adhesive backing that can (and will) damage wallpaper, paint and leave residue on any surface where they are applied. I’d suggest reviewing what your bring on your trip and eliminate the excess, or simply bring more hangers for the closed.
Linda Stoddard says
I always carry a few clothes pins with me. Handy for many reasons but mainly I use them to clip room drapery so the light doesn’t leak.
Ken says
All good suggestions but be sure to put them into your checked baggage if you are traveling by air. Folding Travel scissors, power strips, screw drivers no matter how small will cause problems at the airport screening if they are in a carry on. Good luck
Carol Ward says
The best ‘alarm clock’ at Disney is getting a wake up phone call. I love to hear the the automated assistant say “We wish you magical dreams.”
Paul says
One step up from the power strip would be the power strip surge protector. Let’s face it – if you’re plugging in all your phones, tablets, computers, portable batteries and such the last thing you want is a power glitch that fries some of your devices. They can be the same size as a power strip.
Otis says
Go 1 better.. Anker Power strip with USB-C plugs..
Peter Babikan says
I always bring night lights with me as well. I place one in the bathroom so at night no one has to turn on the main light & fan. I also put one around the beds so you don’t bump into anything.
Extra ziploc bags of varying sizes are also a good thing to have just in case.
Dawn Cromwell says
On our last visit, we brought a collapsible electric kettle. It was so nice to have hot tea or hot cocoa in my big travel mug, rather than having to microwave it in the little paper cups provided in the rooms. Also, we spent a few nights in a room without a microwave, and were still able to prepare instant oatmeal in the morning, which is a great time and budget saver.
Claire says
Command hooks are great for hanging swimsuits in the shower, too!
Lisa Fischer- Bryant says
All great ideas! A reminder that Coronado Springs has amazing lights build into the headboard for reading.
Randy J says
Binder clips (the black ‘paper clips’ for large files that come in different sizes). They work better than clothes pins, easy to clip on a backpack to use for open chips and snacks while in the parks. super strong and lightweight
Justin says
Colman’s strips are dicey I do like the idea of hanging swimsuit in shower
Justin says
Command strips*
Tina says
Instead of command strips I have an over the door hook that has 4 hooks on it. Found it at the dollar store and it can hang on closet door for extra storage or in the bathroom for wet swimsuits.
Pauline says
There is a fabulous pull out line in the shower at CRS great to dry things from, bring pegs too.
David says
If you are a tea drinker, or instant oatmeal eater, I secondly recommended the collapsible hot water maker. Doesn’t matter how you clean the coffee maker in your room, if there is one, it still tastes like coffee. It will heat water up faster then using a pot on stove,
